Scales & Tales- Zoology Class


  1. Reptile Habitats - In this fun class we will be learning about all the many places reptiles can live!  We'll talk about what factors can affect their habitat, like water and temperature. We'll also learn about what different reptiles do during seasons.  There will be some friendly reptiles to handle during this class.

  2. Reptile Diets - During this awesome class we will discuss the food chain with relation to reptiles!  We'll learn about the differences between herbivores, carnivores, omnivores and insectivores.  There will be a variety of reptiles at this class.  Some good for holding, some just for looking at. 

  3. Reptile Hunting- During this exciting class we will be learning about many of the hunting mechanisms that reptiles have or use! Things like camouflage, heat sensing pits, venom, and constriction. There will be a variety of reptiles to meet and learn about in this class.

  4. Reptile Defense Mechanisms- During this exhilarating class we will be learning about the defense mechanisms that reptiles have or use! Things like rattling tails, batesian and mullerian mimicry, aposematic color, venom, tail dropping and camouflage just to name a few. There will be a variety of reptiles to meet and learn about in this class.

  5. Reptile Communication - Did you know that communication is all the rage?  In this cool class we learn how reptiles communicate, why they communicate and with who they communicate!  Did you know many reptiles love to play charades?  Come to this class and maybe you can see some of our reptiles communicate with you!  This class will have a variety of reptiles to interact with. 

  6. Reptile Locomotion - Did you know that there are four different ways that a snake moves? During this fun class we learn about lateral undulation, sidewinding, rectilinear, and concertina movement. How does a turtle walk vs. how a tortoise walks? Come to this class to watch their different movements in person! We will have a variety of videos and animals to show how each one can move in a different way to get around!


 

-Every class will include between 3-6 live reptiles, typically a variety of snakes, lizards, tortoises and on occasion a bird.
